Enter a Float

Join in the fun by entering a float in our Carnival Procession!  We hope this year's procession will be bigger and better than ever, and we have a great theme to get your imagination ticking over: Down on the Farm.

St Gabriels Float, 2012We welcome both community and commercial floats to the Carnival Procession.  If you aren't able to organise a float, then why not dress up and walk in the procession?  Entry to the procession is completely free.

What You Need to Know

We do not have lorries, tractors, trailers or drivers of our own but please let us know if you need assistance with the logistics of getting a float together - we'll try to help out.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your vehicle is correctly insured to take part in a Carnival Procession.  In most cases we believe that your insurance company is likely to agree to this, but please contact us in case you have any queries regarding insurance.

Your vehicle must be roadworthy, as taking part in a Carnival Procession does not exempt you from the usual rules concerning legality and roadworthiness.  We do not expect that this will be an issue for you, but please contact us if you have any concerns.  It is possible with prior notice to obtain a Vehicle Special Order (VSO) which if granted may exempt you from some of the regulations that would otherwise apply.

If you would like to take part in the Carnival Procession, or to discuss the options, please contact Paul Starkey on 07785 313408.

Carnival Procession Route

Wizard of Oz, 2011The Carnival Procession starts from Jengers Mead Car Park, proceeds along the High Street, up Alicks Hill, straight ahead past the Weald School, left at the roundabout onto Natts Lane and finally into Lower Station Road.  It usually arrives at the Recreation Ground around 12:45pm.  Please note the new route this year: as the level crossing is no longer manned at Billingshurst Station, we are obliged to take a route that avoids the crossing.

We hope that we will be able to bring the floats on to the Recreation Ground but if conditions do not allow this, then the floats will be diverted to the Gillmans Industrial Estate on Natts Lane.
